Slow at Work at The House, Galway : April 22 2018
Ever feel like you're on the hamster wheel of banana-level busyness, struggling to step off the treadmill of burnout? Your host Aoife McElwain invites you to take some respite from the cult of busyness by spending a day with her in the slow environment of The House, Galway on Sunday 22nd of April. Tickets are €55pp, and include a vegan lunch and access to the talks and the workshop. This intimate afternoon will start with tea, coffee and talks at noon. Aoife will share her personal experience of recovering from burnout and the insights she collected in her book Slow at Work: How To Work Less, Achieve More and Regain Your Balance in an Always-On World. How has she shifted her mindset and priorities to cultivate a more sustainable approach to work? We'll also hear from Mark Boyle aka The Moneyless Man who lives (mostly) without money and technology in a log cabin outside Galway. What can we learn from his experiences of living off grid? Nutritional therapist Antoinette Witter will tell us about her work at The Happy Gut Clinic. Can a happy gut help us to build resilience against stress? Lunch will be vegan and hosted by Ard Bia Restaurant just a few minutes' walk away. After lunch, we'll return to The House for a basket-making demo with Hanna van Aelst who sees weaving as if a form of story-telling. Buy tickets here.
slow:series 2016 / 2017
Aoife held a series of talks and workshops throughout 2016 and 2017 to try to answer the question "Is it possible to slow down and still keep up?" With five key events and over twenty speakers taking part, areas that were put under the microscope included work, procrastination, creativity, value and change.
Sing Along Social
Throughout the year, Aoife hosts a monthly residency in MVP in Dublin 8 usually on the last Sunday of the month. In the summertime, she takes the show on the road to festivals including Body & Soul and Electric Picnic. To keep up to date on where the next chaotic choir of craic will be popping up, follow the Facebook, Instagram or Twitter pages.
